JASON “J BIRD” BOWMAN

Crew Member Profile of the Week

Name:  Jason “J Bird” Bowman

Weapons: Drum Kit, Vocals and Serious F@#king Attitude

There are a lot people named Jason Bowman out there on the Google. I found a city councilman in Nebraska who was running for the state legislature. There is also a dude who works at the Young Adult Ministries, which sounds sort of creepy. Another guy by that name lives in Ohio and has a really obnoxious background on his MySpace page.

We don’t really care about any of those Jason Bowmans.  The only one you need to worry about is our own J Bird, resident of Woodstock, drummer and disturber of the peace. It was inevitable that he find his way into the hearts and minds of the denizens of Jack Graceland. We’re all in real deep trouble right about now.

Jason is also a member of the Five Points Band, and he is awesome.

JACK GRACE BOOK CLUB

We’d like to share some of Jack’s favorite books with you.

Splendor in the Glass by Jack PancaldoSplendor in the Glass: A Brief Memoir of the Lighter Side of Life
by Jack Pancaldo

Jack Pancaldo is the father of Jack Grace and is the man who taught our hero everything he knows about drinking. The martini on the cover is kind of a dead giveaway, no? Jack has reviewed his dad’s book, and here is what he has to say:

“My dad is funny, charming and a great person to be around. Somehow he actually managed to translate all this into a book. I had no idea he was writing it. He’s not a big literary guy. In fact the book jokes on the back that he is the first person to write a book without actually reading one, but his batting average as a writer right now is 1000. I have a hunch he will retire his literary career with that average too. We joke that my dad basically, ugh, crapped out a book, sent it out, and it was published immediately. Quite the tale to all the unpublished out there. The publishers said,” We get mediocre Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Bukowski wanna be’s all the time. This book is something that is different, and we don’t get any submissions like this.”

Well I am quite proud of this book and think it makes a fine holiday gift for the problematic good time drinker in all of us.

Congrats Dad. You made your Italian son proud.”

Jack Pancaldo also makes really tasty baked clams. (— Ed)

Hint:  It’s not “Lonesome Entertainer”.
